Dr. Wood announced the new systemwide clinical programs structure in late March. The structure will promote excellence in outcomes by consistently implementing best practices, developing standards and driving growth across the system.
There are three components to the clinical programs structure:
- Clinical Care Programs (CCP): There are three Clinical Care Programs – Mothers and Children, Oncology and Orthopedics/Spine. CCP will provide oversight, support and strategic direction to the relevant clinical effectiveness and value analysis teams.
- Clinical Services: There are six Clinical Services – Emergency Care, Infection Control, Pain Management, Palliative Care, Perioperative Services and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. These have been identified as opportunities to achieve clinical effectiveness and implement best practices across the system.
- Core Operations: There are three Core Operations – Imaging, Lab and Pharmacy. These have been identified as opportunities to develop consistent processes and implement best practices across the system.
Each program will develop recommendations and make decisions based on key principles. Programs will support our Moonshot goal of becoming the national leader in patient and family-centered care by 2022 and align with the best interests of patients and families. Decisions will focus on what’s best for the health system rather than specific sites, and actions will focus on ensuring continued success of our current volume-based payment model while preparing for a value-based health care marketplace.
