Meeting the Needs of our Muslim Patients

Beaumont offers a variety of services to provide for the spiritual needs of our Muslim patients. Ask a nurse to contact the Spiritual Care department or page the chaplain if you or your family would like further assistance. Every effort will be made to meet your needs.

A Muslim chaplain (imam) is available weekday mornings. Call the Spiritual Care office at 248-551-0239 (or extension 10239 within the hospital) to request that a Muslim chaplain visit.

When a Muslim chaplain is not available, we will be happy to call your mosque and request that an imam provide assistance. Contact the Spiritual Care office or ask your nurse to page the chaplain.

Salah (Prayer)

A room within the Spiritual Care Center on the third floor of the Central Tower functions as a musallah and may be used for daily prayer, except from 4 to 4:30 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.

  • Restrooms for ablutions are located around the corner from the Spiritual Care Center, off the hallway leading to the East Tower.
  • Sajājī (prayer rugs) and a rack for shoes are available within the room.
  • A sign indicating the appropriate Prayer Direction is posted in the Musallah.

Dhuhr (Friday prayer)

Dhuhr is led every Friday at 1:45 p.m. in the Spiritual Care Center.

Copies of the Qur'an are available upon request to the Spiritual Care Department office or to a Hospital chaplain.
